NAN PHILLIPSFUSED GLASS, STAINED GLASS, FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE
|
My background as a sculptor and my love for working three dimensionally led me to create sculptural fused glass artwork using controlled kiln work. I enjoy being able to turn hard, flat sheets of glass into beautiful flowing forms and textures.
My Judaic artwork is an extension and expression of the beauty of my deep-seated heritage. I taught glass and sculpture for five years at studios in Cedar Hill, Plano and Richardson before opening my own teaching studio in Richardson in 2009, where I teach weekly classes in fused glass and stained glass, and host art parties for individual and corporate groups. In addition to teaching and creating, I work for and with a number of local arts organizations: In 2014 I helped to create, and became a founding Board Member and Treasurer of Texas Jewish Arts Association, working to create a Jewish arts community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In 2017 I became President of the TJAA, and my term will run into 2020. As a long-standing member of Texas Sculpture Association, I served as President in 2008 and 2009, and continue to produce the organization’s weekly newsletter; |
I have been involved with the Arts Incubator of Richardson (AIR) as an Advisory Board member since 2008, working toward creating a combined facility for the visual and performing arts in Richardson;
I have served on the Program Advisory Committee for the Richland College School of Business Administration, Management and International Business & Trade; and
I am a 2017 graduate of Leadership Richardson Class XXXII.
My artwork has appeared in shows and galleries around the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and in collections in Denver, Louisville and New York. I currently show and sell my artwork through art organization shows, my web site, and my studio.
