Artist Statement:
I paint to process and record the questions I have about myself and the world around me. Turning to Science, History, the Humanities, and my Jewish Heritage for understanding-- the tradition of Tikkun Olam, doing acts of kindness, guides me. I use a variety of mixed media & traditional painting techniques to explore different ideas, colors, textures, and moods. Taking inspiration from Art History, religious texts, and personal experiences, I use representational imagery to embrace reality while letting my colors, paint layers, and brushwork exist as a visual metaphor to investigate themes of time, memory, and peace. Combining observation, expressions, and allusions to bring sensitive topics to light, offer visual interpretations, and create unexpected relationships.
