Bio
Kim Goldberg, artist and graphic designer, is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute with a focus in sculpture and new genres art. She has 25+ years of professional work as a Senior Design Consultant and Senior Art Director and has run her own design business the past 8+ years. Kim participated in the 2009 and 2012 Israeli Festival for Alternative Theater in Akko Israel, co-creating multimedia dance and video performances with Israeli dancers, which toured in the U.S. at Ballet Austin and in Europe at the Israeli Cultural Institute in Budapest. In January 2013, she exhibited a series of 70 paintings on paper at the Haifa Rappaport Performing Arts Center. Kim currently lives in Fort Worth, TX with her husband and daughter. Artist Statement Design, in many ways, is about being consistent. Consistency is necessary to promote a brand or market a product, but at times can be suffocating. Moving to Texas a year ago, I was immediately fixated on the expanse of the Texas sky and its diverse cloud formations. Since that time I’ve taken thousands of no-filter photographs of the sky using my iPhone. Responding to the imagery, the photo/content combinations in this series are created by arranging photographs (without retouching the imagery) in varying configurations, at times, using text to influence the viewer’s quest to find meaning in the works. While the images used are consistently of the same subject, the process of rearranging them allows me to create new, unique forms and meaning – and frees me from the limitations so often imposed by the need for consistency. Volunteer & Special Projects A strong advocate for Israel, traveling there each year since 2006, Kim is the past Arts & Community Task Force Chair for the U.S. Central Area Consortium (a 14 city group partnering with Budapest and the Western Galilee) of Partnership2Gether. She helped create a framework for numerous art and community related programs with the purpose of connecting people in the U.S. to the Western Galilee area of Israel and Budapest. Kim was president-elect and served on the Board of Directors for the Schwalb Center for Israel & Jewish Studies at the University of Omaha, she is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Texas Jewish Arts Association. Kim has been a five-time Artist in Residence in the Western Galilee and is currently planning a multicultural music exchange program that will be a 7-day intensive program in Israel designed for serious violin and viola students. www.kimgoldberg.com For more information contact Kim at kimgoldbergdesign@gmail.com Back to the TJAA Member Directory |
