Della's drawings and paintings of figures, landscapes and still-life are rich with nuanced relationships of textures, patterns, marks and colors. She has described her work as "a symphony of colors and textures.”
Della graduated from the Johannesburg School of Arts and Science where she studied the Fine Arts. While a student, her work was submitted by a staff member to the prestigious “Artists of Past and Present” exhibition in Johannesburg, South Africa. Two of her paintings were accepted, and she was the youngest exhibitor ever to be awarded this honor. This accomplishment was followed by participation in the show “Artists of Fame and Promise” in The Adler Fielding Gallery, and special mention was made of her work by W.H. Coetzer, the renowned South African painter.
For the past many years, in between periods of introspection, Della has continued to show work of fine artistic ingenuity using oils, oil pastels, charcoal, graphite and acrylics. She has also designed children`s album covers, as well as ran an art school for children in Vanderbijl Park, South Africa called “Self Expressive and Creative Arts.”
Della recently won first place at the Rowlett Plein Air Art Competition in September 2014. Most recently, her work has been displayed at The Artists Show Place Gallery in the annual exhibit at The O’Keefe Studio Center in Richardson, TX, at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary in Dallas, and with the Richardson Civic Art Society.
